Thanks to Daniel Hutchinson on Steam Narrow Boat Emily Anne for the following report:

SUCCESS!

Having taken on a full tank of water and a number of largish logs we fished out of the canal between Flint Mill Lock and the tunnel, fitting through with just millimetres to spare. We didn't quite manage to get through, touching the sides a little causing only superficial damage to the paint on the leading corners of the cabin and side hatches.

We measured our air draught to be 5ft 2in at the leading cabin corners, at a width of 5ft 8in.

The signage for the tunnel states the largest size is 5ft air draught at a width of 5ft, and whilst I wouldn't think you would get much more than maybe an inch or two on our own size, 5 x 5ft is definitely a very cautious estimate.

We were also well over the 'loading gauges' both at the exit of the lock, and the tunnel mouth, as much as four/six inches at the corners.
