Access restriction at Park Lane, Endon
We have been advised that there is no access to the canal at from the main A53 Leek Road via Park Lane for either traffic or pedestrians for approximately two weeks from the 14th April 2009. This is due to Network Rail doing construction work on the railway bridge.
We are advised that on 17th April the bridge "had a hole about three foot across running the full width of the bridge with security fencing around."
There is an alternative route from the canal for pedestrians who need to access the A53 at Post Lane in Endon, about ¾ of a mile in the Stoke direction along the towpath. Vehicles needing to reach the BW yard are able to do so by approaching down the hill from the Cellarhead direction.
Access for boaters to the services is unaffected by this closure.
